Hi Alien Lizard - Great blog - Greetings from Boston, Mass! I have found tons of helpful information for my running! Quick question - I have been running 40 miles a week for years (am 42 and race around 7:30 miles) and was wondering how you jumped into the Lydiarid plan. Was it just the time part of it - hour to hour and half every day or did you need to start with less volume than that? Did you accumulate the time in single runs or doubles? My running is going nowhere and am looking for strategies....Thanks much!

HI JOHN,
THANKS FOR COMMENT.
I started by working on 10 hours a week. ARTHUR LYDIARD recommends 100 miles per week but I found out that his boys use to average 6 min miles just running steady!
I would build up to 10 hours per week over a month then hold that for 8 weeks. you should then find you then have a really good aerobic base. I think one long run a day works best.
At 42 you should still be able to set some new p.b.s if you follow arthur's training!
happy running
