Amazing result; Fragmented breathing V normal breathing evaluation road test

After only 2 days of practice I decided to put Fragmented breathing to the test.
After 30 mins easy running I ran 4 x 1/2 mile loop [Selworthy rd] with 1 min rec between.
Running with an average Pulse rate of 125 bpm I got the following results
Lap one, normal breathing 6.40 pace average at 125 bpm
Lap two, fragmented breathing 6.33 pace average at 125 bpm
Lap three, normal Breathing 6.37 pace average 125 bpm
Lap four, F/B 6.32 pace average 125 bmp
Conclusion; Fragmented breathing allowed me to run 6 sec per mile pace [av] faster per 1/2 mile lap than normal breathing, with same pulse rate!
AWESOME RESULT!!!

As it is said that 5 day minimum is required to fully learn the new breathing method more improvements should be possible:]
For more info on fragmented breathing read posts below.

Interesting result. Do you think the f/b technique is something that is sustainable for a long run or is it best suited for shorter runs, say up to 5k? Brendan

The first day I used the F/B method my lungs hurt after, but after the second time no problem, in fact it's quite easy to learn the new breathing pattern.
so I think it will work very well over the marathon distance.

That's amazing Rick. Can you explain in layman's terms how you do it?

Hi Ewen, Ok I'll make a video and post it later today!

For Ewen "Layman's terms" means sock puppets and fairy bread!

Looks like Rick took you almost literally Scott. By the way, I love fairy bread!

What's 'fairy bread' ???

Fairy bread is an old Aussie birthday tradition (like Pavlova) - that's why we're such good runners. It's soft white bread with the crusts cut off, spread with butter, sprinkled with hundreds and thousands, then cut into small triangles. Mmmm!
