The guys in the 100m have much higher peak speeds than those averages. Obviously in a short race such as that, the start really kills your average mph.

According to the 10m splits, Bolt was the first person to log a 10m time of 0.82 seconds. (previous record was 0.83 by Ben Johnson)

That translates to about 27.2 mph!!

Wow! that is fast, beats my 17 mph top speed for sure!!!
