Yesterday I got a comment from Neil as to how fast do you run the long run when Lydiard base training, the best answer I've found comes from Keith Livingstone of HEALTHY INTELLIGENT TRAINING' read his great article Here
COMP NOW CLOSED
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR ENTRIES.
WINNER WILL NOTIFIED ON MONDAY!
Competition WIN the book Healthy Intelligent Running.
It's one of the best books going on how to train the Lydiard way and I'm giving one NEW copy away to the person who guesses the following.
Team mate Stevie Lewis is running the Liverpool Marathon on Sunday, it will be his first ever marathon.
He's been running for two years and ran a P.B. for 10k last week 37.24 and he also ran a 1.25 1/2 marathon on a hilly course a few weeks back.
So just guess his Liverpool Marathon finish time correctly[leave your estimated time in the comments link below] and you could WIN! Competition closes Sunday morning before race start.

Steven who won The Great Langdale Marathon has written a fantastic article for Ricksrunning, on his training and how he won the race.
Read it here tomorrow!

If Scott wins the postage to Japan should be cheaper than Australia ;)
I'll take a guess at 2:49:54.
Thanks for your estimated time it's gone in the book!
Do they do carrier pigeon delivery to Aus :0]
Cheers Ewen
I say 3:15!
3:10 assuming he paces it well..
Dear Steve,
I really hope, with all of my heart (and with some of yours too), that you smash it right in the bloody ballbag with a flying two footed king-fu master kick and come home with a sub 3 debut marathon.
However, I'm terribly sorry to tell you that you will actually cross the finish line in a very respectable (if not mind bogglingly brilliant) time of 3:18.28.
Good luck, god bless (in an atheist kind of way) and I sincerely hope that you prove me wrong.

I think Stevie Lewis is perfectly capable of running 2:58 or hopefully better on Sunday!
That is provided he runs even paced and is prepared to endure some pain (well a lot of pain) for the last few miles haha.
Best of luck Steve!

I heard a viscious rumour last week that Steve as been for a couple of long runs although I've not seen any proof. His time will depend on whether he sets out to run sub-3 hours. If so I'm worried that he'll crash and burn. 3h05 is achievable but knowing Steve I think he'll go out hard and come in at 3h15. Remember the gels and push those fluids. Good luck.
good luck steve did i mention it may hurt. i,m thinking 3.03.but sub 3 in london
Hi Rick
I want to enter the comp but I can't put a comment on your blog - I have tried before and failed. Can I predict 2.11:30 and could you put it on for me with a Good Luck message.
Thanks
Carole J
Hi Rick
3.10 is my guess, hope I am wrong but need to be running 36 for 10K to beat 3 hours at marathon
I am following the race round on my bike so will look forward to seeing Steve + other club members flying round (need waterproofs!!)

Rick
My guesstimate for Steve is 3h4m50s. But I hope he smashes it and proves me well wrong.
All the best Steve have a great run.
Cheers

Rick
3h7m25s

My prediction 2 hours 56 minutes and 59 seconds

Hugely impressed by Carole J's prediction of 2h,11:30 and beginning to wonder if there's more to Steve than I realised! Is this "our" Steve Lewis or Steve Lewis the Kenyan elite runner? I'm worried that this competition may be fixed - how can we be sure that he won't deliberately go out and run 2h11 just so he can share the covetted book with Carole?
Well he could be the next Scott Overall!
I was going to say about 3:10 but that has been taken, based on the online pace predictors and adding something on for no marathon experience, but taking some away for the good advice he no doubt is being given, 3:07:15
3:08:30. Best of luck Steve.
I hope Steve can crack the 3 hour barrier but I think a bit more training will be required.
I'll go for 3:06:55
Good Luck!
Rob J (Father of Ben)
Cheers for all the best wishes.
It's a strange feeling sat here reading the range of times, knowing that any** of them are be possible tomorrow.
In 24 hours it will be over and I'll be in the pub, or better had be!
**Carole I will discount you 2:11, that's next year's target ;-)
I think Steve Lewis will run the marathon in 2:59:08
Tracey Peters
I guess Steve will do it in 3:09:36.
Best of luck yo you and the other SWAC runners
